D2R awards $10 million to accelerate RNA-based therapies for rare diseases and cancer

Montreal, March 26, 2025 – ��ñ��’s DNA to RNA Initiative (D2R) has awarded over $10 million in funding to support three groundbreaking research projects that will advance RNA-based therapies for cancer and rare genetic diseases. The awards were initially announced at the D2R Research Symposium on March 13, 2025.

Thirteen HBHL-funded researchers awarded CIHR Spring 2025 Project Grants

The Canadian Institutes of Health Research's Project Grant: Spring 2025 competition has approved 435 research grants for a total investment of approximately $411M, with 123 projects funded in Quebec.

HBHL is proud to announce that 13 HBHL-funded researchers will receive support for seven projects, representing an investment of over $6.7M at ��ñ�� and the Douglas Research Centre.

Pulitzer-Prize winning American journalist, journalism professor and author will speak Oct. 23

Isabel Wilkerson, Pulitzer Prize winner and bestselling author of Caste: The Origins of Our Discontents and The Warmth of Other Suns will deliver the 2025 Beatty Lecture at ��ñ�� on Oct. 23 during the University’s annual Homecoming festivities. Nahlah Ayed, host of CBC national radio program Ideas, will moderate the event.

Neuroscientist Alan Evans and music performance scholar Michael McMahon among ��ñ�� community members recognized for exceptional accomplishments and service

Nine members of the ��ñ�� community have been appointed to the Order of Canada, one of the country’s highest civilian honours.

Among the honorees are two ��ñ�� faculty members, Professors Alan Evans (Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences) and Michael McMahon (Schulich School of Music).

Each year, the students of ��ñ��’s School of Continuing Studies nominate and award instructors with the Award for Distinguished Teaching. This year, instructors Georges Bryson and Dr. Zachary Abram were awarded the 2018 Award for Distinguished Teaching. Their teaching methods, real-world experience and world-class abilities inspired their students to nominate them for the award, one of the highest honours for instructors at the School.

It’s official: our Supply Chain and Operations Management students are a force to be reckoned with on the international stage. A team of four students took first place and a €10,000 cash prize at the Final of the Global Student Challenge in Zwolle, the Netherlands.

Team members Nasim Changizi, Nasim Darabi, Shahryar Ebrahimi and Ahmad Kianimoghadam are all students in the School’s Diploma in Supply Chain and Operations Management program.
