These academic talks are intended for ÂÌñÉç stu dents\, alumni and faculty.\n\nGood public policy is evidence based. But w hat do you do when data are bad or non-existent\, the evidence base is wea k\, and the research the PhDs are proposing will take two years and the go vernment needs to make a decision within six months? This seminar will rev iew the challenges and successful strategies for incorporating high-qualit y research into public policy with a focus on health care policy in low- a nd middle-income countries. \n\nAbout Marko Vujicic\n\nMarko Vujicic curre ntly serves as Chief Economist and Vice President of the Health Policy Ins titute at the American Dental Association. Previously\, he was Senior Econ omist with The World Bank in Washington D.C. where he focused on health sy stems reform in developing countries and directed the global health workfo rce policy program. He was also a Health Economist with the World Health O rganization in Geneva\, Switzerland. In all of these roles\, Dr. Vujicic l ed large-scale strategic initiatives focused on bringing cutting edge data and research to specific health policy challenges.\n\nDr. Vujicic has pub lished extensively in peer-reviewed journals such as Health Affairs\, The New England Journal of Medicine\, JAMA\, Health Services Research\, Health Economics\, Social Science and Medicine\, and Medical Care. He is also th e lead author of the book\, Working in Health\, which examines health work force challenges globally and has written several book chapters on health care policy issues. His team’s work has been cited by CNN\, The New York T imes\, The Washington Post\, The Wall Street Journal\, Fox News\, NOVA\, a nd The Atlantic. He has been invited to provide testimony to federal and s tate legislative committees.\n\nDr. Vujicic holds several academic appoint ments. He is adjunct senior fellow at the Leonard Davis Institute of Healt h Economics\, University of Pennsylvania and affiliate faculty at the Cent er for Health and the Social Sciences\, University of Chicago as well as t he Center for Health Services and Policy Research at the University of Bri tish Columbia.
