Darwin Day @ Museum: What happened on board the Beagle?

Join animator Bruno Paul Stenson for a treasure hunt through the Museum looking for specimens related to Darwin鈥檚 voyage aboard the British exploration ship named the Beagle. This family friendly treasure hunt starts with a brief lecture about the听voyage and Darwin's work as the naturalist on board. Families will learn about the geography and wildlife of South America, central America and the famous Darwin's finches of the Galapagos Islands.

As part of wider efforts to activate the standards presented in the Canadian Museums Association Report Moved to Action: Activating UNDRIP in Canadian Museums (2022), the Redpath is working towards pro-active restitution practices. As per our Collections Management Policy (2024), repatriation requests will be received by the Redpath Museum Director and will be treated on a case-by-case basis.

Accessibility

Please note that the Redpath Museum is not accessible to individuals using wheelchairs. There are no access ramps or elevators, and access to the upper floors is only possible via a central staircase. The exterior entrance, interior spaces, exhibition rooms, and restrooms are not adapted to meet universal accessibility standards. Additionally, the building is not air-conditioned.
