Each month we will hold two events: a reading semina r and a skills-based workshop\, each led by invited faculty speakers\, gra duate students\, or community facilitators specializing in research method s\, classroom relationships\, pedagogy\, and public scholarship. The DSRW aims to familiarize participants with emergent decolonial discourses\; to equip them with praxis-informed decolonial skills that can be used both wi thin and beyond the classroom\; and to facilitate the application of decol onization and Indigenization strategies within religious studies at the de partmental level.\n\nThis opening event will introduce decolonization and Indigenization as an epistemological and pedagogical project\, and explore how to apply decolonial values and skills to religious studies research a nd learning. The workshop\, led by Professor Yann Allard-Tremblay\, will b e oriented around three articles:\n\n\n Larocque\, Emma. 2015. ‘Foreword: “ Resist No Longer”: Reflections on Resistance Writing and Teaching’. In Mor e Will Sing Their Way to Freedom: Indigenous Resistance and Resurgence\, e dited by Elaine Coburn. Halifax & Winnipeg: Fernwood Publishing.\n Smith\, Linda. 2012. ‘Chapter 3: Colonizing Knowledges’. In Decolonizing Methodolo gies: Research and Indigenous Peoples\, Second\, 61–80. London: Bloomsbury .\n Klassen\, Pamela E. 2020. ‘Back to the Land and Waters: Futures for the Study of Religions’. Religion 50 (1): 90–96. https://doi.org/10.1080/0048 721X.2019.1681106.\n\n\nAlthough this event is concerned with the study of religion\, we invite anybody interested or curious\, from any intellectua l background\, to join this discussion. No prior knowledge of or exposure to decolonial methods are necessary: it will be a space for all to learn a nd collaboratively envision how to think and do otherwise. Registration is limited: please secure your place at https://forms.gle/iMoDoikEPu29jgwH7 \n\nLight food and refreshments will be served. Please share any dietary r estrictions on the registration page\; we will do our best to accommodate your needs.\n\nAny other questions and concerns can be directed to either Lucie Robathan or Jordan Molot\, DSRW Co-Chairs: lucie.robathan [at] mail. mcgill.ca and jordan.molot [at] concordia.ca\n\nThis event series is spons ored by ÂÌñÉç School of Religious Studies\; Concordia Department of Relig ions and Cultures\; Concordia Institute for Jewish Studies\; and ÂÌñÉç Gr aduate and Postdoctoral Studies.\n DTSTART:20230127T210000Z DTEND:20230127T230000Z LOCATION:Birks Building\, CA\, QC\, Montreal\, H3A 2A7\, 3520 rue Universit y SUMMARY:Decolonization and the Study of Religion Workshop (DSRW) Series URL:/religiousstudies/channels/event/decolonization-an d-study-religion-workshop-dsrw-series-345179 END:VEVENT END:VCALENDAR
