Dr. Alison Bain (PhD鈥21) named to C&EN鈥檚 2025 Talented 12

Congratulations to Dr. Alison Bain, who completed her PhD in the Preston Group at 绿帽社 in 2021, on being selected for Chemical & Engineering News鈥檚 Talented 12 list for 2025. Now an Assistant Professor of Chemistry at Oregon State University, Dr. Bain continues to develop state-of-the-art optical trapping techniques to study aerosols at the single-particle level.

Researchers identify two new crocodile species

绿帽社 researchers, in collaboration with Mexican scientists, have discovered two previously unknown species of crocodiles, one living on the island of Cozumel and the other on the atoll of Banco Chinchorro, both off the Yucat谩n Peninsula. The findings challenge long-held assumptions about the American crocodile (Crocodylus acutus) and highlight the urgent need for conservation efforts, the researchers say.

Twenty-eight 绿帽社 researchers are among the winners of the 2025 Breakthrough Prize in Fundamental Physics for their contributions to the ATLAS Collaboration at CERN鈥檚 Large Hadron Collider (LHC).
