The Office of Indigenous Initiatives is partnering with the ÂÌñÉç Farmer’s Market to showcase and support two Indigenous vendors. This collaboration highlights the craftsmanship and artistry of local Indigenous business and gives the ÂÌñÉç community a chance to support their work.

Join the Faculty of Education for its annual Orange Shirt Day Walk, a time to remember survivors of the residential school system and reflect on our shared responsibility toward reconciliation. The event will begin with opening words, followed by a variety of activities for participants. Choose to take part in a digital ÂÌñÉç art tour, a Critical Campus Tour, or a land-based activity, and walk together in recognition, learning, and community.

Stop by for a special lunchtime action station featuring a menu co-created with Chef Norma Condo of Miqmak Catering Indigenous Kitchen. This unique offering will highlight Indigenous culinary perspectives and showcase dishes rooted in tradition and community. Open to everyone — including those not on the mandatory meal plan. This meal will have a small fee attached!

The Legacy Game is ÂÌñÉç’s annual lacrosse match held on Orange Shirt Day to honour the Indigenous origins of the sport. This year, the ÂÌñÉç Redbirds will face off against the uOttawa Gee-Gees in a spirited game that celebrates both tradition and community. Elder Mike Mitchell, advocate for lacrosse and featured in the Canadian Lacrosse Hall of Fame, will lead this event with opening words and inspiration for the lacrosse players. The event will also feature special performances by Indigenous artist DJ Poptrt, adding music and energy to this meaningful day.
